Wedding preparations trucking along
It's been a rather busy week for me, with the wedding plans overshadowing my birthday, while getting into the swing of part time work. The good news is, there are definitely more things getting sorted out for the wedding preparations.
Last Saturday (on my birthday), MiL and I went up to Cabramatta to hunt for fabrics for my wedding gown. The suburb out in Sydney's west, is known for its Chinese and Vietnamese traders. Slightly alarmed that we had chosen to be out there during the third day of Chinese New Year, that the shops might not be opened, we were instead greeted by that all too familiar loud drumbeats and fire crackling noise. I got excited. A lion dance!!! *^_^* I told MiL I definitely had to take pictures to prove to everyone back home that Sydney isn't as pathetically quiet as they think it is during CNY. tsk.
Anyway, the shops were definitely open and I also managed to find some ang pau packets! Although, I was too taken in by these adorable small-sized packets and bought three of them. Only to be showing a displeased Lee who thought they were too small! Might as well give our guests the impression that we only wanted spare change in our little red packets! Har-har... This is my kwai-lo fiancé telling me this, mind you! =P I guess I'll just need to find another use for them with the favours then. ^_~
Also worked out on the check list are --
- Made a draft of the wedding ceremony booklet.
- Finally booked Our Place on Darling's cosy courtyard this week, for the wedding lunch reception.
- Sought out and found a good photographer for the day, which actually suited out meagre budget.
- Started speaking to a florist about the bridal bouquet.
Of course, there's tons of other little more details yet to be done. The most important being the wedding invites, which should be designed by Lee this weekend. It will be quiet a hoot! *^_^* Hee-hee... I won't be posting any pictures of it here until I get them mailed out and receive the reactions from our guests. *grins*
It's a nice feeling to know that things are moving along. Although I am very stressed out and disheartened by not having a proper job to help pay for all these things; and that being so far away from friends whom I could've used much of their help for some of the DIY projects I want to do to suit our small budget wedding. *sigh*
The good news is, my mum and brother are definitely coming for the wedding now. Prior to this, I was heartbroken knowing that I wasn't going to even have my dad walk me down the aisle because my parents couldn't afford to come. Well, he still hadn't said he would be coming. So I'm still praying very hard... It just wouldn't be meaningful if I don't have him there for me.

Sydney has the biggest CNY celebrations outside of Asia. Didn't your fiance teach you anything about his city? ;)
Glad the preparations are coming along well!
