Our Engagement Blessing

The Saturday after Lee's arrival was a bustling affair to organise an event I've never been to myself. Just like almost all my guests that afternoon, I didn't know what would be expected at an engagement party. I didn't have much time to ponder over every single detail either, but I guess I knew what would reflect the day's celebration I wanted to have.

I found a prayer for the blessing of the engaged couple online and spoke to my dad about doing it. He presided the prayers, while I had Julia and my mum assist.
Lee and I exchanged rings during the blessing, while everyone present witnessed and listened in.

After the prayers, everyone dug in to a scrumptious homemade lunch feast cooked by my dad. No one quite hesitated for third and fourth servings! And by Malaysian standards, that definitely makes for a great party already! Heheh...
Once everyone were settled in with the food, I got Sharizal to help "chair" a Q&A session for everyone present to ask Lee and I questions about us. I felt it was somewhat important since some of those present didn't know how we met. It was pretty amusing to recollect our story in front of everyone, especially my parents!

Since it was also Lee's birthday that same week, the party was also a birthday party. I ordered a special cupcake three-tiered cake from the very talented Mama Min, which was also a big hit with everyone! Heheh... The idea for the cupcake cake was a combination of Min's and mine. Every tier of the thirty-three (being Lee's age) cupcakes had a meaning related to the engagement.
The bottom tier had "Lee & Zona" spelt out along with wishes for our marital bliss arriving at 25 and 50 year anniversaries.

The second tier had gorgeously designed figurines each representing married and family life... A baby boy and girl, a champagne bottle with glass, wedding rings, a skipping rope, in-line skates, roses, a wedding cake,10th anniversary, and little hearts.
The top tier was the biggest attention stealer of them all! ^_^ It was a naked couple - Lee and I - where he is proposing to me, and we're both sitting on top a (Mac) laptop. Heheh...

A special thanks to Sharizal, Julia, photographer for the day Sze - for helping out at the last minute. To all who came, thank you for sharing the day with us. And of course, to my parents for all their love, patience and effort made for this wonderful occasion!

Even Toffee had a good time! ^_^
