Toffee tricks

My sweetie's an intelligent and cheeky one. Other than her response to basic commands, she finds it terribly amusing to do the extra cute things to soften everyone's hearts at home.

Four-legged postman
When dad goes out to get the mail from the postbox, Toffee jumps right at it. One day dad decided to let her take it from him and told her "Give it to mum". She promptly went off with the letter in her mouth, back inside the house and gave it to my mum. Not without a little playful chase from my mum tho.

The Look
Know how some models have that doe-eyed low-angle look? Toffee does that when she wants to look innocent from her pooping mischief.

Attention seeker
I'm always engrossed in tapping away at my lappie. So when she wants attention, she'd jump up with her paws on my lap and tuck her head underneath my hands at the keyboard for me to pet her.

Another trick she's discovered to get my attention while at work on my laptop, is for her to jump onto my bed and sit up at the edge where it's closest to my chair. While my back is facing her and I can't see her, she realises that she's at equal height to me, enough for me to hear her direct a whimper at me for attention. Hahaha... She knows I love to playfully wrestle and cuddle with her on my bed. ^_^

Cold paws
Her latest trick witnessed by my parents one night... she'd walk nonchalantly over my dad's bedroom slipper (one side) and slip her paw into it while still continuing to walk. Easily mistaken as an accident, my dad saw her do it twice! How cute is that?!

Two 'tats

Reading Erna's commitment phobe over getting a pet, I remembered that I haven't blogged about my baby for a while...

Every time I've had to leave home, the one person I hate to leave behind is Toffee. I've nearly had to move to Indonesia, and Singapore this year, and each time I dread to think that she's the only one I can't speak with if I call home! Heh.

So now, thinking about the trial move to Sydney is making me miss her terribly. I really wish I could take her with me, because Australia's such a dog haven! And she's definitely going to love it there.

Except maybe not Keisha, Lee's persian sweetheart. But they're so alike despite the obvious.

Missing her

I shower her with too much attention and affection. I spoil her. I swear we're going to miss each other terribly when I leave.

I'm going to miss receiving her excited greetings every time I'm home from work. How she'd pounce on me every time I open the door. I'm going to miss playing & wrestling with her on my bed every night, her excited stumpy tail response every time I pet her. Sharing unconditional cuddles and affection with her when we feel like it.

I'm going to miss her company, the way she lies at my feet while I work at my desk, the excited greetings I get when I wake up every morning, those manja-ish and adoring puppy dog stare she gives me, those spontaneous need for a pat on the head she'd ask by positioning herself under my hand. Or when she'd jump on my lap to lick me while I'm at my desk. She's a cheeky one. Intelligent too! She learns new tricks just to get attention.

She's my manja baby... And I am going to miss her to bits! *sigh* I wish I could take her with me...

My cuddle darling

It's been a while since I posted a darling Toffee-kins entry. Or more like none in this set of archives. So I dug up some gorgeous pictures of my sweetie to accompany some cutesy stories.

Toffee's now a year and four months old. I can't believe its been over a year since we've had her. When I looked back at her teeny puppy pictures, she's still as adorable as ever. Only now, cheekier and really pampered. But at least a whole lot more obedient than the earlier months.

She's ONE

My baby turned one today! She's the ever hyper manja cocker like the first day I got her. Except that she's now really a spoilt brat, terribly cunning & whiny to get her way! hahahah...

Plus, she's starting to look for her own boyfriends at the gate. Unfortunately, they're all neighbourbood mutts. Toffee-kins, you gotta stick with your own kind. x P

I love coming home to her licks and pounces! *^__^* I can't remember life before her.

Terrible Toffee

She's all grown up now, at 9 months. She's become cheekier, and very accustomed to everyone's routine at home. She knows when to expect me home, she knows how to bully me into getting her way and she knows how to show me her frustration in the simplest of manner.

Sometimes I swear she's a little girl and not a dog.

Last night, I was spending some time grooming her. Her fur's become really long, curly and grand. Her legs and underbelly are line-laced like tassles, and the fur beneath her chin and chest area look like 18th Century ruffles. She's a royal looking dog, my Toffee. But she can get them so unruly and matted. It's mad! So, I was brushing out the tangles and she yelped in pain. =( I sayang-ed her back for all the trouble. But apparently it wasn't enough.

When I got to bed, I found wood splinters under my blanket. It was the handle of one of her brushes chewed out in protest! >_< Yeesh.

The pampered pooch has even been getting nice, big juicy pork joints to gnaw on from my dad. He's been shopping for them at EuroDeli for her. Good thing is she's stopped chewing the furniture and walls. And one night, the resident rat tried to steal her bone. Toffee got so mad that she's started hunting the rat now. Hahaha.. She's such a darling to watch run around the house in her gun-dog mode. *^__^*

A secret love affair

One that drives me to come home after work, to share indiscriminate, unconditional affection. One that keeps me home on weekends, from dedication and responsibility. It's the look on that face, those adoring eyes that you can't deny sharing cuddles and kisses with.

Or licks rather. I'd never thought I'd be so smitten with my four-legged baby. It is strange how affection with a pet can bring out so much emotion from you.

Just last week, I brought Toffee to the vet for a medical check-up. A sudden bald-patch appearing on her brow made me panic-stricken for fear of her losing her beautiful gold coat to mites or fungus. Ju's little Dachshund, Chacko is suffering from mites and terrible skin problems. And I just thought it might be the start. But my dad tried to quell my panic by applying some fungal cream.

Our four-legged queen

I haven't blogged about my four-legged baby in a while. But rest assured, Toffee's still adorable and fit as a fiddler on a hot tin roof! =P My little sweetie's become a spoilt brat. She's already coming to 7 months, and grown tremendously in height and intellect. Both being annoying combinations when it comes to her taking what she wants for herself.

Previously forced to be content with barking furiously when you're on the bed & out of reach, Toffee can now jump on our beds at her own free will. She'll not only play with the sheets, but play Cleopatra and show you her smug face. hahah... I swear her imploring eyes is enough to make you laugh at her playful pretentiousness. But it's a world of difference when she's the first to greet you at the door, with her little wagging docked tail. Or when she plays DBKL and readies herself to pounce on whatever food that falls off the table. Or when she follows me to the kitchen, knowing its her feeding time. Or when she wants her favourite new treat - ice. hahah... Don't call me a cheapskate, but Toffee just loves playing and licking ice-cubes! I think that's great, cos it ain't fattening and it keeps her cool & distracted. ^__~

I love that little brat. No matter how disgusting it gets to clean up after her or pick out grotesque ticks, she reminds me of how simple it is to appreciate life, unwind by stroking her toffee-brown fur and just accept her little kisses. It's a dog's life!
