Mardi Gras weekend
It's been a busy social weekend, right from the Balmain market up to dinner last night. But the highlight was on Saturday at Sydney's Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade. I've never been to any parades before, so what a way to get initiated!
The atmosphere out in the city that evening was amazing. Everyone was just out to have fun, take photographs or just watch out of curiosity. I had a bit of trouble taking photos because I was too short, although Lee did try to carry me. Hahah... The best I did were some of these few snippet videos of the parade.
The Trojan Horses and Roman soldiers.
The Ikea kitchen float!
Dancing men and women in tea towels!
I honestly never liked crowds. Particularly when you were from a place prone to selfish mob-like mentality. But that evening while my friend & I sat by the curb letting our calves recover, a couple walking past us who were probably done watching the parade, gave me their tiny fold-able stool. I thought that was the nicest thing a stranger could've done, albeit the parade was already in its last half an hour. Especially since it was something they paid for already (there were people selling milk crates and those stools to stand on to watch the parade over heads). So much for people here being selfish. ^_~
Here's another blog with more colourful photos from the parade. I also love her food entries! Heheh...

lol I would never run from Sydney. lol Walk very quickly with my butt cheeks pressed firmly together ... yes, but run, no! ;-)
Just kidding. I have gay friends in Sydney, so the Mardi Gras doesn't bother me.
