Friends wanted
Have you ever posted an ad for friends? It's a silly thought isn't it? I have been frequenting a couple of community websites to post up notices for a friend's kids face painting business and got distracted by the other sections. The personal ads, specifically.
Some were really weird and creepy like rich men looking for girlfriends, or even a girl offering blow jobs. Then of course, there's the seemingly genuine "Friends only" section with ads by people new to Sydney or those looking to expand their network of friends. It seemed such a common thing to have lost old friends to marriage, partners or a jet-setting job, then heading online to make new friends. It sounded "acceptable" to meet people this way, instead of the preconceived desperate factors that accompanies the concept.
So, thinking that this might help cure my homesickness in some way, I thought I'd try it out.
i'm a 28 yr old Female in Balmain seeking friends. it's been three months since i've moved here & made better friends with my partner's cat. Is it that hard to make new friends here? or maybe i'm not getting out enough.I've gotten about 20 replies now, with about 2/3 sounding genuine. But we'll see how it goes, and I'll post later entries on the creep factor or success stories that come out of it.i love books, getting crafty, travel, the beach, watching european films, attending film festivals, the occasional club hop, live gigs; or just hanging out and sharing intelligent conversations. besides that, i'm always game to try new things and meet all types of people. but if you think my cat would make a better friend for you, drop me a line hey? cheers!

Hey there,
i stumbled upon ur website cuz a girlfriend of mine recently linked Piccola's(Ying)blog to our blog (www.felinefuckers.blogspot.com).
first of all, congrats on the engagement. secondly, this is sort of a late reply to your 'Friends Wanted' ad that I never saw but only read about =)
I figured I should say hi because after reading your blog, I'm quite convinced that given the chance we'd have plenty to share with each other - from paulo coelho to crossing cultures & finding love on the WWW (no kidding, i found love on a podium in a club) to the relationship declaration program that my partner & i are considering on signing so the US immigration department will give me my work permit!
oh and also the stares one has to endure in KL for dating a caucasian guy (in my case also an Aussie who used to live in Balmain - now we're in NYC but seriously considering Sydney as one of our bases eventually).
U also linked the website living with PKD - that is also a topic of interest to me.
so, gimme a shout ok? i havent abandoned KL entirely - i'm there from time to time, and same for Sydney too.
