FF: Drool Fest
The drool fest for today's Foodie Friday began on Sunday at Sydney's Fish Market. Lee & I had brunch with his dad, on my second time meeting him, while nursing a bad hangover from Saturday night. Mental note, never overdose on the alcky the night before a jaunt at the Fish Market. Because of that I didn't get to see the incredible array of fishes inside the market, and settled for a yummy seafood platter at the restaurants outside instead.
Oysters, calamari, baby octopus, prawns and lobster on a bed of chips! Yum.
Lunch Monday was a sole quicky of rice with spam and long beans omelette.
Then for dinner, because I had cooked extra rice, I made my ultimate favourite Spanish fried rice! I still remember the first time I had it, when mum used to send me to her Filipino friend's house who babysat me. I used to have all types of strange food there. Even chocolate sauce with rice! Anyway, the first time I had Spanish fried rice I asked her what she put in it and she told me she fried it with tomato sauce. I can't believe I asked her when I was only 8! I've had another variation just last year in a colonial Dutch bakehouse in Bandung - Nasi Goreng Tomat. Literally, tomato fried rice, and it's just as delicious. For my variation here however, I added chunky bits of cashews and served it with a lamb sausage.
Tuesday's dinner, I just threw in all the small portions of leftover pasta we had - fusilli, fettuccine & spaghetti - and made a light sauce with the chicken. I can't even remember what I put in. But Lee thought it was yummy. Heh.
Mashed potatoes and lamb sausages. We got these sausages from Woolly's cos we thought we'd try something else besides your usual pork or beef sausages, and these didn't disappoint. It was tasty and juicy, and even complimented the Spanish Fried Rice we had with it the day before.
Fusillini in red wine & mushroom sauce. Here, I added pre-fried bacon and spam cubes to the sauce after sautéing the latter for about 10 minutes.
Bon Appetito!
