The aspiring proposal
I would love to have you as my daughter-in-law.Shivers slid down my spine, with the frog swelling in my throat simultaneously when she said that. It was a proposal. No, she expressed an aspiration. After barely two months of being here, I had already gained his mother's acceptance.
I wasn't even trying.
I don't know anyone who was sincerely accommodating as she is. Even before I arrived, Lee had told me about his mum's inquiries of what I would like for Christmas. Then on the first instance of meeting her, she told of having bought me a Christmas tree. She had gone on to warmly offer me a listening ear whenever I need one, and still proceed to remind me of it all the time.
What was I supposed to think of her graciousness? Nothing ulterior, of course. But I did realize that it has grown from accommodation to affection. I merely wasn't used to such motherliness.
Aware of both their predicaments through past relationships and life, there's something about mother and son that has taken my heart. There is a vast difference of attitudes between my own family and Lee's. The difference of conditional and unconditional acceptance respectively. I don't know if it is being an outsider that makes creating a relationship with Lee's mum simpler, but it will be a new learning curve for me. Among the things I will have to get used to, if I stay.

I never got that sort of acceptance after seven years of marriage. Congrates!
Soem peopel are very accomodating. You are lucky to have one for a possible 'future mother in-law'.
