Small world
The feeling of multiculturalism embraced in Australia is wonderful. Nowhere else would I have thought to have met people of different nationalities in such a short time. My favourite part is when you share stories and see their home through them, despite never being there. Even when some of my friends in KL asked if I was missing the CNY celebrations, I said no because the City of Sydney council had so much planned for the month-long celebrations (not that I had the chance to see all of them though).
Just on Sunday alone, Lee helped point out that we were out in the city watching the Chinese New Year dragon boat races, sent a text to a German friend to have dinner the following week, met a Malaysian friend for coffee, had Mexican for dinner, received a phone call from an Italian mate; and probably walked past heaps of other nationalities too.
This reminded me of the blogthings' "You know you're from Sydney when"...
You are genuinely surprised when you meet someone who was actually born in Sydney (but then, they are Swiss/Thai/Brazilian).Then again, I can't be that surprised cos Lee's born here. =P

I missed the DRAGON BOAT RACE AGAIN!!!! Arrrgh!
One of the companies I worked for came second in that one year. [Or in a different one]. I can't remember which company though. lol I think it was CUSCAL.
The Multicultural aspect of Sydney is one of the things I loved about Sydney.
Easy to get Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, etc food almost anywhere, and there is always some place which sells the AUTHENTIC stuff, and always places which sell the Westernised / Anglicisied Version of the food for us Ang Mo's who can't palate strange exotic foods. :-)

Yup, I'll have to go with Dabido on this one.
And the best part is that things like this are organized by the council (watch out for M'sian Day/Parade nearing Merdeka!). ^.^

charles: ^_^ no worries! hope u had a good one!
mei: yeah, i read abt that in someone's blog somewhere. they even have indonesian day, thailand day etc... cools!

Midnite Lily - Yeah, I've seen the normal dragon boats. My father took place in a Dragon Boat race in Penang when we lived there ... I'm sure we've got some photos somewhere. He had a silver medal somewhere for it, they also came second. lol
