Unfashionable Frays
Finding the perfect pair of jeans is the hardest thing to do for me. The average Asian consumer are mostly bumless, and carrot-cuts make me feel like I need to buy orange colored jeans to complete the look! =P
While everyone else are spoilt for choice, I keep ending up an unaccidental faithful customer to Levi's. Every two years or so, I'd go check out all the other jeans brands and eventually end up buying a pair of Levi's. And this year, was no different. Well, almost.
Less than three months ago, I bought a new pair of Levi's 577. My first of the new range since they introduced the women's wear, and it felt strangely different. Not even like the original denim material they're known for.
But it fit like a glove. And the new look did grow on me. Unfortunately, the threads started to grow out of the jeans.
It was a bad fray... Three holes on the right leg on my new pair of jeans! Two holes on the thigh.
And one at the hem! I've had three pairs of Levi's before this, and none of them frayed until after almost three years of use. Not after less than two months! Even after washing by hand one more time, I found new spots that started fraying.
When I looked for the receipt, I started feeling a foreboding sense of pain... Somehow seeing "Goods sold not returnable" after paying RM200+ for defected goods was more than a pinch.
I looked up the American Levi's website, and there was a product guarantee. The Malaysian website... nothing but fashion promos. Ugh. So much for information! I ended up calling the Levi's office in PJ and was told to bring the defected pair in. The receptionist made me sign a form and said they'll get back to me within two weeks. That was a week ago. Three days ago, I get a call to collect my new pair! Which I did today.
So much for "Goods sold not returnable"... Isn't that just confusing the consumer? What's the point of having a worldwide warranty if you're going to slap that on every receipt?

Wait a minute. Does full warranty means that I can just send the jeans over back to the Levis Co. if any holes and patches come up even after a few years of wearing?

Hmm. Makes sense!
But the bottom of my jeans (where the *sleeves* of the jeans are) are wearing out already. And its also 3 months old plus.
So fast.
