SYD-OOL (Gold Coast)-SYD p2

So I arrived very early morning Friday, and knocked out til the arvo because I could barely get any sleep on the cramped plane seats. The anticipation of finally seeing Lee after three months felt absolutely surreal. And as if I couldn't have aided the feeling any more by watching my favourite Love Actually inflight. Even a pinch still wouldn't help wake me. I'm such a hopeless romantic! =P

That evening itself, I met some of Lee's cartoonist friends at the Australian Cartoonists' Association piss-up. Finally met Jon & Tom, who reads my blog. Among others - Peter Sheehan, Reg Lynch, Paul Batey, Dave Follett, Stuart Hale... The piss-up at Surrey Hills was my first and only look (so far) at Sydney city. Lee made me walk all the way from Queen Victoria Building right up to the bar at Surrey Hills. Gawd. It was even the same trying to get back home in Balmain, walking from Rozelle. Never walked so much! Talk about trying to sober up, walking. Nyek.

The next day was a nice walk around to the Balmain Markets and then dinner with Lee's mum and her partner at Vietnamese restaurant, Le Bich.

As if it were a 72 hour marathon of meeting Lee's friends, we were off to Gold Coast early Sunday morning for a work conference he was attending. That's where I met some of his colleagues. And chilled out by the pool and gorgeous Gold Coast surf, right on Broadbeach, away from the schoolies. Yeah, 96 hours here, and I'm already Oz-tanned.

Now it's back in Sydney and time to slowly get acquainted with the city. Starting with the neighbourhood. Before checking out to work, Lee put out the street directory on the dining table, opened to our suburb. Hint hint. Right.

Will post photos later. This is just your obligatory, though mentally staccato-ed, quick update also saying that I'm enjoying the sunny but cool breezy weather, albeit occasionally freezing. Heheh... So I'm off for a walk. Be back laters! Muahs!

p.s. Blog entries are now time-stamped at GMT +11 (Eastern Australia, daylight savings time).

the two cities that I have called home in my 11 years in Australia. At the end of the day, love Sydney more than Gold Coast. You have to walk a lot in Sydney as it would be a hassle to get a cab furthermore being expensive. Balmain has plenty of Greeks and Italians. Come to the friendly suburbs in the East where plenty of South East Asians awaits you. LOL..
