Tim Burton flicks

Morbidity is appreciated in the form of Tim Burton's mind. Where the strange recesses of the underworld meets with song and merriment a tale of a Corpse Bride. Burton's dark look at the phrase "Till death do us part" is conveyed by an original story full of deadly puns and jazzy tunes that will sometimes scare you off your seat. Be prepared to watch eerie moonlit shots of a floating bride, and laugh out loud too. I don't think there'd been a better way to describe "dark humour" than with Corpse Bride.

I love the detail that went into the stop-motion animation of his characters, and the lighting effects for some of the skeletal scenes. It was just amazing what he did to make mere puppets and light show out of it.

Just the night before I was privileged to watch a preview of Corpse Bride, I had seen Charlie & The Chocolate Factory and was utterly disappointed. Even though I haven't read Roald Dahl's book, I'd already heard about how the 1970s film version of the book was a much better screen interpretation.

Maybe it was pressure from the studios or just the lack of funds, but it just hit me how almost half his cast for Charlie was the same as Corpse Bride. If Burton did direct both films under the same general time frame, dare I say he works better with puppets than with humans.

Er, not really lack of funds or pressure from studios, the guy just wants to save time. Since he was making both films simultaneously.

hehe.. i'm too conditioned by the "low budget" mentality 'ere.
pity tho, i think he could've done a better job with Charlie.
