Makan Muar

Let's see, what do I remember from the weekend in Muar? Otak-Otak... O-Chien... Wan Tan... Pork Satay... Pork Trotters... Goose Legs... Pumpkin dessert... Suckling Pig... Lobster... Frog legs... Steamed Fish... Shark's Fin Soup... Sea Cucumber & Yam... And the Mee Rebus I didn't have. Hehehe... It was a weekend of gastronomical proportions!

The best men & their childhood friends, all Muarpo boys, were such gracious hosts to us that they couldn't stop feeding us! With that, I can even say that the Muar wedding dinner reception made up for the mediocre food at Putrajaya Shangri-La. It was such a unique 10-course banquet that I haven't quite experienced in KL. I think the 3kgs I lost while I was ill probably got put back on! =P

Already as soon as we arrived in Muar midnite Friday, they took us to have an 8-course Chinese dinner! Then the next day, morning tea with lovely homemade kuih & agar-agar at SC's parent's home during the Chinese Tea Ceremony... Followed by Malay lunch with yummy Briyani and mutton curry! >_< And lin chi kang to cool off before the mass hair wash at their favourite hairdresser's, where some of the guys even started getting their eyebrows plucked! @_@

After that, it was on to Glutton Street for pork satay, wan tan mee, o-chien (oysters) & otak-otak. By then, it was time to go back to the hotel and get dressed for the dinner! Can you imagine?!

The next morning was no different, although I stayed back at the hotel to continue sleeping while ET, KL, YM, Steven & Shireen went off for breakkie... Mee rebus, lontong, roti sardin, roti planta, roti telur and ais kacang. And man they were stuffed by noon!!! Hahaha... Cos by then, we had to make our way to the restaurant for lunch with SC & Julia's family. They were nodding off at the table, until the dishes started arriving. Wow! If only you saw what we had... You wouldn't be able to resist either. That restaurant cooked really good food, and it was the same one they got to cater for the wedding dinner. ^_^

Special thanks to all the guys for such a wonderFULL weekend! ^_~

Pfft.. Such mouthwatering food. And to think that I am going to be eating omelletes for dinner tonight.

Try imagining having these sort of weekends every week. Sure is going to pack a lot of pounds.

not to mention bringing back sticks of otak-otak & duku! and thanks for the duku too, i'm nearly all done with it, all by myself!

ethan: Gluttony weekend! a Malaysian thing. =P hehehe...

eternity: U're welcome! ^_^ heheh.. my dad finished it in one night. & I think I shud've bought more otak-otak!

What a gastronomic tour! Glad you enjoyed the food in good ol' Muar! Btw, I'll take orders for otak-otak! ;)

sue: serious? r u going back anytime soon? hehe.. d one mr Sern bought for us was actually nicer than the one we ate at Glutton St.

The one Mr Sern bought is the the good grilled one from a house where you have to pre-order. My dad always buys that one too. Let you know the next time I go down! :)

The next time you have craving for Muar grub, buzz me :-) I go back to Muar at least once a month. Tee hee~
